In a powerful victory for the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 66 nations at the UN General Assembly yesterday supported a groundbreaking statement confirming that international human rights protections include sexual orientation and gender identity.

This new site is dedicated to increasing understanding about the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and highlighting policies, practices and actions to effectively ensure its implementation in the countries of Southeast Asia.

On Sunday December 21, 2008 plain clothes and uniformed police and security officials raided the offices of the Defenders of Human Rights Center (DHRC), a human rights Organization headed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi, preventing a delayed celebration of the 60th anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights by the Center and sealing their offices.

Georgian Disabled Women's International Association was established in 1998 with the goals of improving the living conditions of women with disabilities and their ability to conduct independent activities by monitoring living conditions, assessing social needs, protecting rights, increasing involvement in social life, creating job opportunities, promoting issues through local media and networking with other Non-Government Organizations.
